Full art direction, written from what the image shows

For DALL·E, the compile step uses complete natural-language art direction and explicitly describes composition, lighting, material, and typography placement. Layout is stated as placement, not left as an accident of the sentence.

Typography is handled deliberately. If your image contains readable text, the exact strings are carried into the prompt; if it contains none, the prompt says so outright instead of letting the model invent lettering.

Everything comes from a verified observation pass, and a second vision pass compares the draft with your image and scores it before you see the result.

What a DALL·E result contains

  • A primary prompt written as complete art direction.
  • An alternate wording of the same image.
  • A negative prompt, filled only where the target benefits from one.
  • A structured breakdown of subject, environment, composition, camera, lighting, palette, materials, style, mood, visible text, and parameters.
  • A quality report with weighted component scores.

Text handling is scored separately in the quality report, so you can see how confidently the prompt handled any lettering in your image.

Faithful or Balanced

Faithful mode prioritises literal recreation of the visible image. Balanced mode keeps the subject and composition while allowing restrained polish in the wording.

Worked example: café food photography

Target model: DALL·E

An overhead shot of a matcha latte with tulip latte art and a slice of strawberry shortcake on a white marble café table. A linen napkin and a fork sit at the lower left; soft window daylight from the top.

Primary prompt

Overhead food photograph of a matcha latte with tulip latte art beside a slice of strawberry shortcake with visible cream layers, arranged on a white marble café table. Place a folded linen napkin and a small fork in the lower-left corner. Soft diffused daylight comes from the top of the frame, producing gentle, natural shadows. The composition leaves quiet negative space in the upper right and contains no text.

DALL·E works best with complete art direction: composition, lighting direction, materials, and an explicit instruction about text placement — here, that no text should appear.

Frequently asked questions

Is it free?

Image analysis is free, with no account or credits. Repeat analyses are welcome, subject to fair-use request limits and temporary service capacity. See free access.

What happens if my image has no text in it?

The prompt says explicitly that no text should appear. That is deliberate: text handling is scored in the quality report, and for a text-free image the score measures whether the prompt correctly avoided adding lettering.

Can I edit the prompt before using it?

Yes. The primary prompt is an editable field, with a reset button to return to the reviewed original, and the alternate wording is available alongside it.

Are my images stored?

No. Your browser resizes the image and strips file metadata before upload, the prepared image is analysed in memory for the duration of the request, and this site does not save it.
